Rutendo Makaza is a solicitor who brings a thoughtful, practical and client-focused approach to her work. While she has developed experience across complex insurance and professional liability matters, she also enjoys the variety that comes with general practice. At Lawpoint, Rutendo works across a broad range of matters, with a current focus on property, estate planning and general litigation.

 

Rutendo prides herself on building trust with clients quickly. She understands that people often seek legal advice during difficult or uncertain times and believes that when clients feel comfortable being open and honest, they are better equipped to make informed decisions. Her approach is grounded in clear communication, practical advice and a genuine commitment to making the legal process as accessible and stress-free as possible.

 

Before joining Lawpoint, Rutendo worked alongside senior lawyers on complex matters involving professional indemnity, public liability and regulatory disputes, including proceedings before the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and the courts. One of her most rewarding professional experiences involved helping secure the dismissal of proceedings against a client on the eve of trial through careful preparation and uncovering critical evidence.

 

Rutendo completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business at the University of Wollongong while working full time, before undertaking her practical legal training through the College of Law. She considers this one of her proudest achievements, having developed the resilience and discipline that continue to shape her approach to practice today.

 

Outside of work, Rutendo enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends. She is also proud to have co-founded a charity in Zimbabwe that supports orphaned children, an experience that keeps her grounded in what matters most: helping people through life’s challenges with compassion and purpose.
